On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Finance Analyst for a 6 Month Day Rate Contract based in one of the following locations; Birmingham, Bristol or Cardiff. Please note this will be a hybrid working model. About the Opportunity: The Finance Analyst role will work as part of a Finance Operations team reporting into the Finance Business Partner. The role is key in working closely with the Finance Business Partner to enable a professional level of finance support to the geography, group and/or portfolio, driving commercial and financial best practice and the successful performance of the business. This is an exciting role which will enable excellence across our transactional finance process and work with a range of stakeholders to use data and analysis to better inform decisions In this role you will: Partner with project managers to review project finances, assess KPIs, maintain up to date project forecasts and supporting narrative, resolving any variances or anomalies. Develop a good knowledge of the clients and projects within the Geography/Group/Portfolio, and support the Finance Business Partner with trend analysis, data, and insight. Support in preparation of fee invoices and applications for payment, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing to clients, understanding and flagging variances from the project forecast. Advise and guide Project Managers on appropriate financial set up, aligning to best in class project financial administration and provide support in meeting client requirements. Advise and guide Bid Managers on queries, including appropriate contracting entity, any tax considerations for discussion with the Global Tax team and rate support. Provide support to Finance Business Partner on the regular financial cycle activities including ABP, Outturn, month end, monthly/quarterly reporting etc. ensuring on time and accurate financial results and that issues are investigated, resolved, or escalated as appropriate. Assist with analysis of overhead expenditure and trends including expenses on closed jobs, non-billable and general ledger activity. Review and monitor possible job expenditure against budget and escalate when budgets are exceeded. Assist with transactional finance activities including time and expense transfers, PJN to CJN transfers, job setup, data maintenance and other activities, ensuring compliance with Arup policies. Ensure all outstanding transactional activities are actioned and necessary tasks are performed before month end to assist with meeting monthly targets. Monitor shared mailboxes and resolve queries or escalate where necessary. Assist with collating information for project audits/Lead the support to the Finance Business Partner on all financial aspects of client project and statutory audits. Assist/Lead training and upskilling staff on Arup systems, policies, and processes, providing guidance, training, and best practice information to maintain accurate financial data. Support with business, finance, change and continuous improvement projects. Essential Skills and Qualifications: Finance or business-related degree or 3 A levels (or equivalent) at Grade C or above or a relevant apprenticeship A willingness to work towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA) is preferable. Minimum 12 months experience in similar role. Strong numeracy and literacy skills and excellent attention to detail. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Digital awareness and adaptability to new digital tools. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data and provide clear and concise explanations and constructively challenge. Excellent communication skills (both verbally and written). Able to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
