Role: Asbestos Supervisor
Hours: 37 hours
Salary: Grade 9 - £37938 - £40476
This is an opportunity to work in a small specialist team within the wider Housing and Asset Management team at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council that manages asbestos within DMBC's housing stock.
Key Responsibilities Are As Follows
* To assist the Asbestos Team Manager in their daily duties on any contracts or projects which involve any/all asbestos works.
* To effectively manage resources and assets within Asbestos Team.
* To assist in the delivery of compliant asbestos removal and surveying work whilst adhering to a range of Health and Safety policies, procedures, statutory legislation and best practice.
* Assist in maintaining high levels of communication across the directorate including elected members, customers and their representatives.
* Ensure the effective management and utilisation of external contractors, including overseeing their onsite performance and assisting in regular contract meetings to develop, agree and maintain work systems and procedures where required.
* Undertake effective project management, including the optimum sequencing of works, ordering and planning to facilitate the completion of contractual target dates.
* To closely liaise with other departments and teams across the Council, including Corporate Landlord, Finance, Legal, Housing Maintenance, to effectively plan, schedule and undertake asbestos surveys, asbestos removal/demolition work, and maintenance, as required.
The Successful Candidate Should Be Able To Demonstrate
* Experience in a relevant role relating to the management of asbestos within buildings.
* Extensive knowledge relating to both asbestos remedial works and analytical works.
* Knowledge of asbestos legislation & regulations.
* Experience of licensed asbestos removal and analytical contractor management.
* Relevant industry recognised qualifications such as:
o BOHS Certificate of Competence – P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings
o BOHS Certificate of Competence – P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos
