We are in the process of creating our first People Strategy and, recognising the importance and impact of excellent HR services, we are growing our HR Team. Our HR services and Payroll teams work closely with each other to ensure that all staff are paid correctly in accordance with their terms and conditions of employment.
Our Assistant HR Officers support a wide range of HR functions including:
* DBS Applications
* New starters

* Variations and leavers
* Maintaining accurate HR records
* Providing general advice and HR administrative support
* Provide cover across the other HR and Payroll teams
We are looking to recruit a proactive individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for HR. Applicants must have a minimum GCSE grade C/4 equivalent or above in both Maths and English and be competent with information technology as the role will involve working on the Council's integrated HR and Payroll system (Oracle HCM).
In return, we offer the opportunity to join our evolving team, which, under new leadership, is shaping the future of Knowsley Council and its services. We offer a wide range of benefits including development opportunities, hybrid working, discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, an excellent pension and a welcoming and supportive team culture.
We asked some of our current team, both those who have worked at Knowsley for a significant amount of time and those who are new to the team what their top three reasons to join the team would be:
1. Team and colleagues are so helpful, friendly and supportive.
2. Every day is different and there are lots of development and progression opportunities.
3. Flexibility and autonomy to develop skills and work on different things, being creative as well as flexibility in how we work, for example flexi time being available for most roles.
Why Knowsley?
Knowsley is part of the Liverpool City Region, with the population here growing faster than the City Region as a whole. We have huge ambitions for our workforce, our residents and local communities. The population is becoming more diverse, and we want our workforce to be representative of the communities we serve, particularly welcoming applications for these roles from all under-represented groups.
At Knowsley Council we will consider requests for flexible working. For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible: flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time.
We promote applications from all sections of the community, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognising the value that diversity brings to our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and candidates with disabilities as we acknowledge their underrepresentation in our workforce.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified date should we receive sufficient applicants.
At Knowsley we value our applicants and want them to feel well-informed and welcomed. If you have any questions about this specific job role or what it is like to work at Knowsley, please contact:
