Sage Pathways is excited to partner with Career Returners to offer a supported hiring opportunity in their Delivery Experience Team. This team is looking for a Full Stack Developer and welcomes returners to apply for this permanent open role.
A successful returner candidate, who has had a career break of 12 months or more (as of April 2025) will receive coaching support through the transition period from Career Returners. This career break may have been for childcare, eldercare, relocation, or other reasons. You may have been working on a small-scale basis to fit around other commitments or not done any paid work for a number of years.
Full Stack Developer – Developer Experience Team
The Developer Experience team is responsible for building the developer portal platform and providing a centre of excellence for all product teams within Sage. This is crucial to Sage’s business plans and long-term objectives. The Full Stack Developer joining this growing team will be responsible for building, enhancing, and maintaining this platform.
In this role, a Full Stack Developer will develop and deliver high-quality products and/or systems and services that exceed the developer’s expectations.
As per the Sage hybrid work arrangement, you will be required to work out of the Manchester office 3 days per week.
What will you be involved in?
1. Developing and maintaining high-quality software. You will be involved in the various stages of project delivery i.e. understanding requirements, design, code, and documentation.
2. You will collaborate seamlessly with team members to ensure commitments are met.
3. You will work alongside architects and senior developers on the team.
4. Maintaining relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing, and changes where applicable.
5. Automation of tasks through appropriate tools and scripting.
6. Ensure all tasks are completed to the required quality standards.
7. You will keep your technical knowledge up to date by studying state-of-the-art development tools & techniques.
8. Provide 3rd tier support and/or expertise for your area of responsibility.
What is Sage looking for?
1. Software Engineering experience. During your career, you may have focused on either front end or back-end technology; Sage will provide support to fill in knowledge gaps.
2. Languages: Javascript and ideally React
3. API Knowledge
4. Experience of Agile Development
5. Experience of GitHub for source control
6. Exposure to AWS services such as S3 and DynamoDB – this can include completing training courses or bootcamps to upskill during a career break.
