Description Vacancy: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Worker Part-time: 34 hours per week Contract type: Permanent Pay: NALC Salary Scale Points LC2 (18-23) (£15.84ph - £17.29ph) depending on skills and experience Starting: ASAP St Agnes Parish Council requires a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Worker to work within its Maintenance Team to deliver first class standards of grounds and asset management within the parish. If you have a passion for supporting community - we want to hear from you The post holder will work at various sites performing tasks such as: Grounds Work - Seasonal cutting of Public Rights of Way and general grounds maintenance. Asset Management & Compliance - General maintenance of Council buildings, including plumbing, drain and gutter clearance, internal decorating, and graffiti removal. Work includes remedial building repairs and maintenance. Routine asset monitoring, compliance checks, inspections, audits, and reporting are also part of your duties. Public Spaces - Keeping public areas clean and tidy. Emergency Support - Responding to emergencies as part of the Council’s Out of Hours ‘On Call’ rota and undertaking other duties as needed. Skills & Resources - Using IT packages for asset management, completing administrative tasks, ensuring health and safety compliance, driving Council vehicles, and excellent communication skills. Sites include: 3 public toilets, 2 car parks, a library, office building, 2 allotment sites, play park and 2 cemeteries. The Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep of 15 bus shelters, numerous benches, street lighting and other street furniture. The successful candidate will support the Council to ensure these assets are in good order. To be successful in this role, you should have proven experience in practical maintenance work, including grounds work and asset management. Additional skills in bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating, carpentry, plumbing and metalwork are highly desirable. You should be proficient in using manual and electronic tools, have strong problem-solving skills, be able to take instruction and be able to work independently and as part of a Team. The post holder will be supervised by the Grounds Maintenance Manager and helped to settle into the role and establish a mutually convenient work pattern. Training will be provided. Annual leave entitlement is 23 days (pro rata) plus two extra statutory days, and the post-holder must be available to cover leave for colleagues from time to time. The Council is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Cornwall Pension Fund – employer contribution currently 19.6%) and all its employees are entitled to join.
