The Cardiorespiratory department at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a dynamic and innovative Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist to support the acute sites and Community Diagnostic Centre.
The successful applicant will be capable of performing a range of routine and more specialised diagnostic tests and take part in the supervision and mentoring of students and junior staff. The successful applicants will have or be working towards (as part of the STP) BSE accreditation and also be proficient at ETT, Holter analysis, and other non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests. Cath lab and brady pacing experience is desirable. Final year STP graduates would be awarded a B7 on completion of their studies.
You will be expected to manage, plan, and prioritise tasks efficiently and effectively to achieve and maintain a high standard of patient care.
The post holder will act as a key member of the team in providing accurate, comprehensive, and sympathetic care to patients. The post offers new opportunities and challenges with the provision of community diagnostic care. Effective communication skills between colleagues, patients, and the wider healthcare community are essential to ensure safe, high-quality, and effective patient care in an environment of continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
* To provide experienced and multi-skilled, hands-on provision in the complete range of Cardiac investigations provided by Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.
* To perform and report (or working towards) transthoracic Echo unsupervised, to BSE standards.
* To provide support for specialist echo techniques including stress and contrast echo, in addition to performing/reporting routine TTE.
* To provide support for Transoesophageal echo and other invasive procedures.
* To perform 12 lead/exercise ECG, Holter analysis, Cardiology support during CPEX, and physiological measurements during diagnostic angiography.
* Knowledge and some experience of basic pacing and Cardiac Device therapy is preferred, as is cardiac cath lab experience. Applicants with more extensive Device experience will be encouraged to hold/maintain BHRS accreditation.
* To provide training and assessments to other members of staff of various grades within the given specialty areas.
