Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in.
We're looking for a Personal Wellbeing Mentor - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation, and flexibility. Someone who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and pro-actively supporting someone on their journey.
You'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and take real steps toward transforming their life, it's a great feeling.
About the Role:
You'll support individuals as they transition from prison back into the community. Through both 1:1 support and group sessions, you'll cover essential topics such as health and well-being, goal setting, and personal development to help them rebuild their lives.
Your support doesn't stop at release - you'll continue to assist individuals in accessing vital services, such as registering with a GP, securing mental health support, setting up a bank account, and connecting with relevant community groups - You'll be there every step of the way.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Action Planning: You will formulate detailed action plans that shape the support they receive post-release, identifying specific needs and barriers - helping them reintegrate through practical well-being activities.
2. Caseload management: You'll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
3. Advocacy and signposting: You will be supporting participants to engage with key services.
4. Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT system, ensuring progress is properly tracked.
5. Group Delivery: Setting up and delivering engaging sessions in small groups.
What We're Looking For:
1. Relationship Building: You'll be able to connect with participants, probation services, and external stakeholders in a way that's genuine, promotes a sense of trust, and is non-judgemental.
2. Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks. You will be fully supported following any challenging interventions.
3. IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
4. Resilience: This role can be challenging, and results may take time, but you are the kind of person who sees things through.
What We Offer:
1. 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to trade for additional leave.
2. EAP Support programme available 24/7, including 6 free counselling sessions.
3. Private medical insurance and life assurance.
4. Up to 2 days of Community Giving (volunteering) each year to support a cause that matters to you.
5. Eyecare vouchers to help with glasses or eye care.
6. Exclusive discounts via Perks at Work.
7. Cycle to Work scheme and travel season ticket loan.
8. Long service awards to celebrate your commitment.
9. Salary Finance offering financial education and advice.
10. The opportunity to purchase extra benefits like critical illness cover and dental insurance.
Whilst we welcome applications from those with lived experience, this role requires an enhanced Level 1 DBS check. As we wait for checks to be completed, you'll have opportunities to shadow your colleagues, ask questions, and learn the role.
