There is opportunity to develop to a Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker following completion of competencies.
Main duties of the job
* To provide support, and spend therapeutic time with an allocated group of service users with mental health needs.
* To promote service user's recovery through the delivery of high quality, outcome measured care and evidence based interventions.
* To assist Registered Professionals in the implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans
* Regularly report and effectively communicate service users' health status and care aims in care records and verbal reports to Registered Professional Staff members and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including while supporting assessments and ECT treatment

We provide inpatient facilities for older adults mental health problems and we are looking for caring, compassionate individuals to work within our older adult inpatient team who are committed to providing high quality care and treatment to our patients. Working in an older adult environment can be challenging, but with the right team, positive attitude and resilience we are rising to the challenge and reaping the reward of being able to support people during their most difficult times.
With you in our team, we will empower you to work innovatively, showing a commitment to providing compassionate care and a strong desire to improve the patients experience. You will be able to apply the philosophies of engagement, recovery and positive care in your work with your patients.
This role will require you to work in shift patterns covering 24/7.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care OR NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care with demonstrable evidence of numeracy and literacy skills (equivalent GCSE's or Functional Skills)
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience as outlined below
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working as part of a team and delivering a customer focused service.
Desirable
* Experience of working with people with Mental Health needs as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of being a service user or carer
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health, access to mental health services, and mental health promotion
* Skills in literacy, written, verbal and an ability to effectively use electronic information and computer technology.
* Skills in managing situations of high expressed emotions, and an ability to manage one's own emotional state
* Ability to work independently, being self-motivated and to be able to prioritise and effectively manage a range of competing needs and pressures.
