Clarence Gardens – Wakefield – 37 hours per week
Avalon Group (Social Care) is an adult social care charity with 30 years’ experience of providing person-centred support to adults with care support needs, promoting independence and choice in their everyday lives.
Clarence Gardens is a registered respite service providing 24 hour respite support for up to four adults with a learning disability and/or physical disability.
We are recruiting a support worker on a full time basis to work at Clarence Gardens. As the service operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, you must be able to work flexibly in line with our rota requirements which will include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. Although you will primarily be working at the respite service, you may also be asked to work across the wider Avalon services in West Yorkshire.
You will provide person-centred support with daily living needs including personal care and administration of medication in line with individual care plans. You will ensure that people who use the service can live as full a life as possible and achieve the best possible outcomes.
You don’t need to have any experience as our in-house training team will ensure that you have all the additional skills you need to deliver the role with confidence but you do need the drive and compassion to help our customers to live great lives.
Ideally you will hold a full valid UK driving licence so you can transport our customers as required using the on-site minibus.
Why work for us?
Our current rate for customer contact time is £11.50 per hour (pay review for April pending) with further enhancements paid for weekends and Bank Holidays, and we pay a generous rate for sleepover shifts.
As an Avalon employee you will get exclusive access to discounts on gym memberships and at high street retailers such as Boots, M&S and Sports Direct. You will also be able to join an employee assistance scheme, which is a 24/7 advice service giving you impartial guidance regarding any personal matters or concerns you may have.
We offer fantastic paid training and the opportunity to develop your career by gaining a Health and Social Care qualification along with progression opportunities within the group. We will cover the cost of your Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Certificate (which you need to be able to work in social care).
Apply before the end of November and you could receive a £500 welcome bonus (terms and conditions apply)
We strive to ensure equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality or religion.
