We are seeking a dynamic, motivated clinical expert to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHSFT, As Head of Midwifery and Gynaecology at the Bedford Hospital Site. The trust provides maternity care for around 10,000 women a year with 2700 being delivered at the Bedford Hospital Maternity Unit, and comprehensive Gynaecology Services.
This is an exciting opportunity to compassionately lead, inspire and deliver the service strategy for the next three years and build on the transformational work that has already occurred at our Maternity and Gynaecology services at Bedford.
You will be an inspirational and positive leader who will work closely with the Director of Midwifery and Head of Midwifery and Gynaecology at Luton and Dunstable maternity site and want to play an active role within the Local Maternity and Neonatal System.
This role will provide guidance, support and leadership as a strong advocate ensuring inclusivity and driving a culture of responsive continuous improvement and service development.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Director of Midwifery, the post holder will develop, maintain and provideassuranceonclinicalandoperationalgovernancesystemsandprocesses,specificallyclinical risk management, CQC standards, clinical policy and procedure, clinical quality,health and safety, patient experience, complaint systems and resolution, incident reportingandresolution,contractual qualitymeasures,safeguarding.
The post holder will be responsible for driving forward and monitoring the implementation of the Maternity services strategy throughout the Trust across a range of issues improving the patient experience and taking into account both national and local guidance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for driving forward and monitoring the implementation of the Maternity services strategy throughout the Trust across a range of issues improving the patient experience and taking into account both national and local guidance.
The post holder will be required to act up as the Director of Midwifery in the day-to-daydelivery of the clinical business of the service and assumes delegated functions of corporate nursingormidwiferydevelopmentprogrammes,midwiferyrecruitmentandretention, measuringandimprovingstandardsofcareandthepatientexperience,inaccordancewith agreed objectives,targets, qualitystandards, controls andresource constraints. This will be both site specific and Trust wide.
The Head of Midwifery & Gynaecology will oversee the safe and effective midwifery & nursing staffing both operationally and strategically on the delegated site.
Demonstrate a high level of professional knowledge/expertise in order to provide detailed advice to staff within both the midwifery and multi-disciplinary teams working with CSLs and operational leads to drive and deliver organisational objectives.

Essential criteria
1. •Registered Midwife with NMC
2. •Master’s degree or equivalent level of academic achievement in health or management related topic or able to demonstrate equivalent senior management experience
