The role
As a Submarine Proposal Senior Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Supporting our drive for growth, leading our teams through exciting and sometimes challenging situations.
You’ll lead a team to scope, build and deliver high value proposals (bids) to support the growth of our UK Submarines Portfolio. You’ll play a key role in growing our contracts and building strong customer relationships, implementing our ambitious strategy. You’ll drive growth and the role will provide high levels of responsibility and the opportunity to work at the front of delivering some key UK Defence and Security contracts.
Day to day, you’ll provide overall operational and strategic management of bids within your project team, as well as:
1. Project management of complex design and manufacture bids ensuring that the delivery teams understand cost, time and quality requirements and remain coordinated in their approach to delivering the proposal.
2. Operate throughout the project lifecycle, you’ll also be responsible for supporting with requirement capture, scoping, technical and commercial solutions and the generation of pricing models and proposal documents.
3. Provide effective risk management to ensure that the business’ risk exposure is kept to a minimum and is effectively managed throughout the project.
4. Ensure that effective change management is applied to projects, balancing flexibility to changing customer requirements with the need for robust commercial agreements.
This position is 37 hours per week, hybrid role, with 1-2 days per week onsite at Bristol.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager:
5. Considerable experience in generation of proposals
6. Experienced in leading and managing a team of project staff, providing direction and motivation
7. Experienced managing a portfolio of bids with differing demands and deadlines
8. Experienced financial management skills
9. Experienced delivering solutions
Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager:
10. It is ideal, but not essential, for you to have one of the following: APM PMQ, Chartered status or equivalent.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
