Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a pivotal role in driving business growth through the effective management of strategic bids and proposals. As Bid Manger, you will lead bid teams supporting technology leaders within the Space, Aerospace and Defence & Communications Industries. You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end management of Filtronic bid activity, ensuring all proposals are compelling, commercially sound, and aligned with our technical capabilities. Working across functions, you will coordinate inputs from engineering, sales, finance, and operations to deliver high-quality bids that meet client requirements and deadlines.
Role Responsibilities:
• Manage the full bid lifecycle, from initial opportunity review through to final submission and contract handover,
• Develop structured bid plans, timelines, and governance, ensuring all milestones are met.
• Lead cross-functional bid teams, coordinating technical, commercial, and operational inputs.
• Facilitate bid/no-bid decision processes, providing insight into strategic fit, risks, and resource requirements.
• Work closely with business development, engineering, and senior leadership to ensure bids reflect Filtronic value proposition and technical strengths.
• Oversee preparation of pricing models and commercial proposals in collaboration with finance and sales teams.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of bid management tools, processes, and templates.
• Track bid outcomes and conduct post-submission reviews to gather insights and improve future responses
Requirements
• Demonstrable experience in managing technical bids or proposals, ideally in RF/microwave, defence, aerospace, telecoms, or a high-tech engineering environment. Docusign Envelope ID: 785811C2-DF81-461C-9F4B-30A59F4AD805 2
• Strong understanding of bid management best practices and tender processes, including public and private procurement.
• Proven project management skills, with the ability to develop resource plans, schedules, risk registers and project budgets. • Skilled at stakeholder engagement across disciplines and seniority levels.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent bids.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of pricing strategies.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project planning tools (e.g. MS Project, Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
• Project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2) desirable.
• Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
