Engineered Timber Designer, Cardiff Timber
We have a permanent vacancy for an Engineered Timber Designer based at our Cardiff Timber Branch in Taffs Wells.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing designs for the construction industry, including structural floors, roof trusses, and timber frame designs using bespoke computer-aided design software.

Key responsibilities
* Previous experience of CAD-based design.
* An understanding of construction materials and construction practice.
* Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
* A working knowledge of current relevant Building Regulations.
* The ability to work reliably without supervision and use initiative.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills, enabling you to deal effectively with different customers and their commercial and technical requirements, orders, and lead times.
* The ability to promote and sell your designs and demonstrate commercially based design concepts.
* The ability to manage customer orders and bulk order call-offs.
* Experience in the use of floor or roof truss design software.
* Knowledge and understanding of the makeup of floor structures.
* An understanding of spatial requirements for related structures (e.g., stairs, SVPs, lifts, etc).
Essential skills & experience
* CAD Experience.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Be discreet and trustworthy.
* To be courteous and enthusiastic.
* Act with initiative.
* Be committed to serving the Company.
* Promote a positive and professional image of the company at all times.
Previous experience in the builders merchant industry is preferred.
