An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, passionate Occupational Therapist to work within the Engagement, Activity and Physical Health (EAP) team on Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Greyfriars is a 10 bedded Inpatient Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit for Working Age Adults with a range of complex mental health conditions.
The post involves having a responsibility for devising and providing Occupational Therapy intervention to inpatient service users with complex mental health needs. This will incorporate the principles of Recovery and Social Inclusion, to ensure safe and effective discharge planning. The post holder will also have responsibility for delegating tasks as outlined in individual Occupational Therapy intervention plans.
Occupational Therapists within the Trust Mental Health Services utilise the Model of Human Occupation as the first informing model of practice, using standardised assessment tools and evidence-based interventions.
The post involves working closely within the wider Multi-disciplinary Team, consisting of nurses, medics, health and exercise practitioners, health care assistants, and psychology staff. A commitment to team working is essential.
The post holder should be able to demonstrate effective clinical reasoning skills, apply theory to practice, and communicate effectively with patients, their carers, and colleagues alike.
In return, the successful candidate will be supported to utilise evidence-based practice and have the opportunity to contribute to developing innovative services in a ward-based environment. The successful candidate will also receive regular supervision and will be encouraged to utilise reflective practice.
You will be expected to have a working knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and complete assessments, care-plans, and deliver a range of interventions within the hospital setting and local community.
