Who are we?
We are an early-stage B2B SaaS MarTech startup, founded by two experts in the Search Marketing space—Andy Cooney and Alec Bertram.
Our mission is to help brands maximise their paid search budgets by stopping affiliate fraud and maximising marketing budgets.
We welcomed our first paying client in September 2023 and already work with major names such as NEXT, Timberland, Nando’s, and JD Sports. Our values centre around sustainable growth and innovation, which is why we’re proud to be part of the TinySeed B2B SaaS Accelerator.
The opportunity
Join Marcode as our first engineering hire, where you'll take ownership of technical delivery and solve impactful problems in brand protection and affiliate fraud prevention. You'll have the chance to shape our products, collaborate closely with the founders to define priorities, and drive key technical decisions. This is a rare opportunity to work in a lean, innovative environment with the autonomy to make a real impact for our customers and the business.
What you’ll be doing
* Take full ownership of engineering tasks, from identifying problems to delivering solutions, while working autonomously with minimal oversight.
* Shape the architecture and lead key technical decisions to lay the foundation of our product, balancing rapid iteration with maintainable code.
* Build and maintain our platform, including the app, APIs, crawlers, and backend services, using JavaScript, Node.js, jQuery, PostgreSQL, DuckDB, and AWS.
* Manage deployments and ensure system reliability through AWS services like Elastic Beanstalk, Lambdas, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
* Collaborate with the founding team on product vision, UX design, and customer feedback to deliver meaningful improvements.
What does success look like?
First 6 Months
* Independently identify, solve, build, and release impactful solutions that drive customer value.
* Demonstrate a pragmatic approach—prioritising “functional” over “perfect.”
* Deliver measurable improvements to our products and infrastructure.
12+ Months
* Deliver significant enhancements to both legacy systems and new features.
* Drive business growth by effectively addressing customer needs.
* Become a trusted technical leader, driving innovation and efficiency across the company.
Who would suit this role?
* Experienced software engineers who thrive in startups—comfortable wearing multiple hats, working without a product manager, and driving their own solutions.
* Candidates with strong commercial experience using our tech stack: JavaScript, Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL, DuckDB, etc.
* Pragmatic problem-solvers who focus on delivering value over perfection.
* Individuals eager to take full ownership of technical delivery and outcomes.
This role wouldn’t be right for:
* Engineers focused solely on front-end development.
* Perfectionists who struggle to deliver quickly in a lean, startup environment.
* Candidates accustomed to large teams, complex systems, or corporate processes.
* Anyone unable to meet in London or Manchester every few weeks.
What’s on offer?
* Salary/Package: £90,000 - £100,000
* Profit Sharing Scheme: Details provided during interviews.
* 28 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
* 1-week Work From Anywhere allowance: Stay productive from wherever you like without needing extra leave.
* Remote Working with Monthly Team Meets: We’re split between London (London Bridge) and Manchester, meeting every few weeks. We can also accommodate those preferring more office-based working.
* L&D Budget: A dedicated yearly allowance to support your personal and professional growth.
* Comprehensive onboarding: Gain in-depth knowledge of Marcode, our market, and our mission to ensure you're set up for success. (We know this sounds like a given, but we’ve all worked at places who only give a light touch).
* Career growth opportunities: Join at a pivotal time and grow alongside the business.
