Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
1. Take charge of a £4 million annual procurement spend, optimising supplier relationships and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
2. Develop sourcing strategies for both UK and international suppliers, diversifying the supplier base and reducing reliance on existing markets.
3. Collaborate with R&D and product teams to source components for innovative new product launches.
4. Utilise Sage software for procurement operations, including purchasing, stock control, and reporting.
5. Shape and refine logistics strategies, exploring options such as central European hubs and nearshore suppliers to support international growth.
6. Monitor market trends and currency fluctuations to inform procurement decisions and mitigate risks.
7. Work closely with internal teams to align purchasing decisions with broader business goals and sales forecasts.
8. Introduce process improvements to streamline supply chain operations and support sustainable business growth.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Our client is looking for someone who:
1. Has extensive experience in procurement, with a track record of managing UK and international supplier relationships.
2. Is adept at sourcing components for new product development and has experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).
3. Has strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favourable terms and ensure quality supplier performance.
4. Possesses analytical and strategic thinking skills to refine purchasing strategies and support business growth.
5. Thrives in a fast-paced SME environment and enjoys working hands-on to drive improvements.
6. Is commercially astute, understanding how procurement decisions impact profitability and long-term success.
7. Ideally has an interest or background in engineering or mechanical fields (CIPS qualification is desirable but not essential).

Location
