Working with the Media laboratory, the purpose of this role will be to be part of the team responsible for the timely and accurate production of media required within the Food and Water microbiology laboratories.
Please note this is a full time permanent role working 37.5 hours per week - Tuesday to Saturday 14:00pm to 22:00pm.
Ensure that sufficient media is produced and provided to the laboratory for the required workload and to this purpose, liaise closely with main laboratory and path laboratory technicians and team leaders.
To produce all media in a safe and appropriate manner, and in line with standard operating procedures.
Ensuring that any relevant paperwork related to the production of media is kept up to date.
Responsible for maintaining some stock inventory.
Advise Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the production area of the laboratory.
To ensure the correct use of PPE at all times.
To be familiar with COSHH guidelines and working practices within the media laboratory.
To follow standard operating procedures and safe working practice to ensure the safety of self and colleagues.
To ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
Ensure that production work is conducted in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.
Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
Good origination and time management.
Good communication skills.
Able to self-motivate.
Will be of advantage to have experience in any type of fast pace production work.
