Process Engineer
Chemring Energetics UK is a global business providing a range of equipment based on energetic materials for defence, civil defence and key commercial customers.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our high-performing team. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will lead critical engineering initiatives across CAPEX and overhead projects, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
With your proven background in process engineering and contractor management, you’ll oversee the delivery of complex projects, support operational problem-solving, and develop innovative solutions to enhance our manufacturing capabilities. Key Accountabilities & Duties:
* Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, as well as company policies and procedures.
* Proactively report any unsafe acts or conditions through the Near Miss System, in line with Health and Safety at Work Act responsibilities.
* Develop and deliver innovative process engineering solutions that support business goals and drive successful project completion.
* Provide expert process engineering support, solving operational challenges and designing improvements for both existing and new assets.
* Guarantee that all process engineering designs meet necessary business standards and comply with legislative requirements.
* Lead the coordination of project progress, creating and managing project schedules and budgets, and successfully guiding projects from concept to execution.
* Identify the necessary equipment, resources, and expertise required to meet project objectives.
* Develop comprehensive engineering project plans, including work breakdown structures, timelines, resource allocations, and progress tracking to support overall programme success.
* Establish and maintain a detailed project risk register, clearly outlining risks, their severity, likelihood, and mitigation actions for inclusion in the wider project plan.
* Set up a structured meeting framework, ensuring each meeting is agenda-driven and followed up with clear action plans.
* Proactively track and manage project actions, escalating any concerns that could impact project outcomes to stakeholders.
* Ensure the process engineering components of CAPEX projects are completed to a high standard and submitted to the Project Manager on time.
* Oversee the installation of equipment and services, ensuring work is completed in accordance with specifications, method statements, and risk assessments, with all control measures in place.
* Complete thorough contractor performance reviews and provide feedback to the purchasing team for future improvements.
* Stay current with technological advancements and apply relevant innovations to ongoing and future projects.
* Collaborate closely with key departments - including operations, maintenance, engineering, finance, commercial, purchasing, HSE, senior leadership, and technical teams - to align project goals and deliver the best outcomes for the business.

Qualifications/Experience:
* Health & Safety qualification
* Knowledge and understanding of Engineering services
* Knowledge and understanding of materials handling and processing equipment
* A basic understanding of building construction
* Process Engineering background
* Contractor management and control
* Completion of construction/ Process engineering projects with a high value and level of complexity
* Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering discipline
