About the School
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a brand-new specialist school in Erith, dedicated to supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school will cater to 15-18 students aged between 8-17, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Head Teacher to lead our school from inception, shaping its vision, ethos, and curriculum. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in SEN education, able to develop and implement high-quality teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the development and establishment of the school, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.
2. Develop and implement an effective curriculum tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
3. Recruit, train, and manage a team of skilled and motivated staff.
4. Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student progress and well-being.
5. Ensure the school meets all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
6. Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning standards to ensure outstanding student outcomes.
7. Foster a positive school culture that promotes student confidence, independence, and resilience.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
2. National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) or willingness to undertake.
3. Proven experience as a senior leader within an SEN setting.
4. Extensive knowledge of SEN strategies, EHCPs, and relevant legislation.
5. Experience in school development, curriculum design, and strategic leadership.
6. Strong ability to build relationships with students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
7. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

1. Experience in opening or developing a new school or SEN provision.
2. A forward-thinking approach to inclusive education.
3. Ability to inspire and lead a team with enthusiasm and vision.
