An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to work with our Operations teams delivering excellence. This role sits within our Business & Industry division, catering to those within the workplace. Taking care of catering and dining services, we're one of the industry's largest and most innovative contract caterers.
What you'll be doing...
* This is a key role to support the Operation Director and their operations managers, providing the commercial stewardship of their business, assisting to deliver profit & sales growth.
* The prime objective of the role is to provide commercial analysis and insight, financial reporting and forecasting, and to influence and challenge business decisions in order to maximise business profit.
* Actively working within the business there is significant exposure to the operational function, this role will influence at all levels of the Operations Director’s business.
Key Operational Accountabilities
* Business partnering with the on-site and operational teams
* Working with the Operations Director to ensure that pricing to clients is re-negotiated to mitigate the impact of inflation of both food and labour
* Consistent weekly reporting sales, gross profit, labour, and overheads for each contract
* Analysis of poor performing accounts and recommendation to improve profitability
* Assess overall finance compliance (cash control, till readings vs insight etc) and provide recommendations for improvements
* Provide decision support to initiatives and projects supporting delivery of targets through insightful analysis and idea generation
* Providing interpretation and challenge to current & future trading plans
* Prepare the financial planning and budgeting process within timescales
* Support colleagues across the business in developing financial awareness
* Frequent travel required to sites across the North West and South West

* Strong analytical capabilities coupled with successful business partnering
* Operational background would be a benefit
* High attention to detail
* Ability to work on own initiative, effectively prioritise and manage workload, meeting tight deadlines
* Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in the organisation
* Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills – including pivot tables, formulae, lookup tables, 'if' statements & comfortable with multi-workbook reporting
* Ideally AAT qualified or working towards ACCA or CIMA would be advantageous
