Minimum Requirements
* Degree Qualified (or experience equivalent to a degree).
* Practitioner Member of IEMA (or similar).
* Full Driving Licence.
* DBS check will be required prior to appointment.
* 5 years’ experience in Environmental Management within the construction industry.
* Good understanding of environmental legislation relevant to the construction industry.
* Willingness to travel.
* Good understanding of the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard (desirable).
* EUSR (water hygiene) blue card (can be obtained in role) (desirable).
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to an Environment Manager, the main purpose of the role is to:
* Provide complex advice to support STRABAG work on the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP) Project and to the wider business (where required) in line with the STRABAG management system, the STRABAG Environment and Sustainability Strategy, and the wider HARP project requirements.
* Implementation of the STRABAG ISO 14001 compliant Environmental and Sustainability Management System (ESMS).
* Advise and support Project Management and Supervisors in discharging their responsibilities towards the environment and respond to queries or correspondence on environmental issues.
* Ensure employees are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and understand the requirements of the Group Environmental Procedures and Guidance Notes.
* Writing, reviewing, and maintaining EMS documentation for the UK business.
* Identify significant environmental impacts for contracts and help set up contracts to include appropriate controls.
* Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with legislation, company procedures, and contract requirements.
* Identify employees that require environmental training, provide relevant training, and maintain records of training provided.
* Advising on, and applying for, consents and authoring documents for planning condition discharge.
* Support the Environment Manager and other Project Management in direct liaison with stakeholders and regulators such as United Utilities, Environment Agency, and Local Planning Authorities.
* Supporting tender writing and preparation.
* Support and lead on incident investigation where required.
* Produce Contract Environmental Management Plans, and other contract specific environmental plans and/or site-specific environmental instructions.
* Provide Project Managers, the Head of Environment, and Director of Environment & Sustainability, with regular and accurate details on all environmental matters affecting their contracts.
* Support the Head of Environment and Director of Environment & Sustainability in the delivery of the Group Assurance Programme.
* Undertake internal Business Unit / Project audits as required.
* Disseminate information issued by Head of Environment and Director of Environment & Sustainability, including changes to legislation, to relevant employees.
* Actively partake in collaboration initiatives and promote.
