Research and External Engagement (REE) is a new integrated service dedicated to driving forward the University’s ambitions for, research, innovation, skills and enterprise. This professional service works to support our students, drive research excellence, upskill and reskill the regions workforce, strengthen relationships and engagement with our alumni, business and community partners.
Through cutting-edge research initiatives, hands-on learning opportunities, strategic partnerships, civic leadership, and skills delivery, we will empower individuals to thrive in an ever-changing world.
The Business and Alumni Partnerships team within REE will be responsible for building a pipeline of opportunities and delivering activity through engagement with external partners. The team will work closely with colleagues across REE and with the University’s Colleges and Schools to develop long term relationships with alumni, employers and industry. With focused, targeted areas of responsibility, the team will actively deliver engagement across REE’s portfolio of research, innovation, skills and enterprise.
The Business and Alumni Partnerships Team Manager will line manage and lead the Business and Alumni Partnerships team within REE to develop and implement long term strategic partnerships to advance UWE Bristol’s impact on the region. They will also be responsible for their own portfolio of external partnerships.
The Business and Alumni Partnerships team will develop and manage portfolios of key strategic partnerships including major employers in the region. They will build and manage these important external relationships, identifying shared challenges, goals and priorities. They will represent UWE Bristol’s research and teaching strengths, working closely and collaboratively with key academic partnership roles in the University’s Colleges and Schools.
A member of REE’s Senior Leadership Team, the Business and Alumni Partnerships Team Manager will be accountable for the overall performance of the team, supporting colleagues in identifying, creating, and coordinating new collaborative projects with partners, leading/supporting bid development alongside academic teams and REE colleagues. Collectively, the team will be accountable for (and measured on) successfully growing a pipeline of activity, working closely with colleagues across the REE team to facilitate and deliver a range of support to partners including (but not limited to) student projects, collaborative R&D, academic consultancy and bespoke CPD.
The team will help design and manage processes and ways of working for successful strategic partnership and account management.
About you
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven business development and partnerships manager to join our team. You will have a proven track record in driving business growth, building strong relationships, and identifying new market opportunities in one or more of the following areas:
Advanced Engineering and Defence
Corporate and Professional Services (including Fintech)
Health and Social Care (including Healthtech)
Clean Energy Industries (including Greentech)
