Job summary
We are looking for someone to supervise a comprehensive booking service for patients referred into the community paediatric child health service. You will liaise with paediatricians, secretaries, GPs, health visitors, school health department and parents/carers of patients referred to the service to ensure service needs are met.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of a central team to provide the supervision of the administrative and secretarial functions for a new Centralised Community Children's Service in accordance with Government Access Targets and the internal target policies underpinned by clinical pathways.
The role will include organising the onward referral of patients, co-ordinating internal waiting lists and booking clinics for Community Paediatrics across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. This role will require communication with NHS colleagues, patients and the general public.

Person Specification Experience & Skills
Essential
* Experience of supervising team workload.
* Experience of diary management within a clinical setting.
* Be able to prioritise tasks from a number of people.
* Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Apply a flexible approach to meet the changing needs of the service.
* An understanding of data protection, patient confidentiality and freedom of information policies as they relate to waiting list management.
* Experience of working with a broad range of external and internal professionals with a view to arrange sessions and/or appointments taking place within the service.
Desirable
* Previous experience of patient booking and waiting list management processes and systems to identify and prioritise patients, interpret information and take appropriate action.
* Experience of working in an NHS organisation or similar.
* Experience of communicating with distressed/concerned individuals, exercising empathy and understanding.
Qualifications
Essential
* Education to GCSE standard or an equivalent including an A-C in both English and Mathematics.
* NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
Desirable
* Safeguarding Children Training at Level 2.
