EHS Advisor
The Role
The role involves supporting our Regional HSEQ Team with the development and implementation of environmental and safety mitigations throughout the life cycle of the design and construction of projects together and where necessary liaise with internal and external stakeholders. The post-holder will act as a role model for all environmental and safety issues within Barhale, making sure that relevant legislation is adhered to, in addition to assisting with the implementation and monitoring of our current HSE strategies. The ideal candidate will have an inclination for discovering and recommending environmental improvements, innovation and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Regional HSEQ Team on environmental matters.
2. Assist our Site Delivery Teams to comply with our environmental and safety requirements and share best practice.
3. Support our pre-start planning function including assisting with early ecology surveying and screening.
4. Assist the wider HSEQ team on environmental matters. This includes supporting with the preparation for external audits including ISO14001, ISO50001 & CEMARS.
5. Support with the preparation of Environmental Performance Reporting for Management Review Meetings.
6. Support our long-term Carbon strategy and initiatives.
Communication and meetings
1. Attend client meetings with our HSEQ Team and support and contribute on environmental initiatives.
2. Support with the development and delivery of internal environmental training.
Reporting and analysis
1. Identify environmental good practice for inclusion in Company communications.
2. Monitor and review environmental performance data to drive improvements and compile reports where required.
3. Support with incident reporting, audit and inspection.
Undertake site inspections and audits.
Support the HSEQ Manager & the wider team during incident investigations to maximise lessons learnt and implement improvements.
Key Measures and Targets
1. Undertake regular site visits and inspections (this includes joint visits with the Client).
2. Compile reporting on Environmental Performance.
3. Assist in pre-construction planning and preparedness.
Key Relationships
1. HSEQ Manager and Lead Environmental Advisor.
2. Head of HSEQ.
3. Regional Director and HSEQ Director.
4. Wider HSEQ Regional Team.
5. Regional Managers, Operations Managers, Contracts Managers & Site Agents.
About you
Essential
1. Good knowledge and understanding on ecology and pre-construction screening.
2. Proven experience working within the construction sector in a health, safety, and environmental advisory capacity.
3. Hands-on experience in conducting site inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure adherence to HSE policies and regulations.
4. Experience in conducting accident investigations, preparing reports, and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
5. Experience in preparing detailed reports, presentations, and safety documentation.
6. Experience in on or off-site support in construction, infrastructure, or associated industries.
7. Good communicator with basic presentation and report-writing skills.
8. Competent in using Office 365.
9. An excellent team player, with the ability to liaise with both Senior Managers and Front Line Operatives.
Desirable
1. Environmental degree.
2. NEBOSH Construction certificate.
3. Affiliate or Associate IEMA or equivalent qualification.
4. Experience in using PowerBi and PowerApps.
