The Operations team maintain, repair and upgrade 7,666km of high-pressure pipe, 23 compressor stations, 504 above-ground installations, and 8 connected distribution networks through a highly skilled team of over 600 technicians and engineers across Great Britain. As the E&I Operations Engineer, you'll lead the works to plan and execute maintenance activities, supporting capital projects as well as self-delivery project works in order to resolve defects and operational risks within your engineering discipline, working 'hands-on' alongside Technicians and Operatives in the area. You will be surrounded by talented people with all sorts of skill sets and specialities. They’ll still turn to you for technical expertise, because when it comes to knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation, there’s nobody better. You will be the technical lead for a specific engineering discipline within an operational area and to undertake the role of authorising engineer for all disciplines within the permit to work system. You will complete competency assessments of technicians and operatives to support the authorisation process and undertake workplace assessments of operational staff to ensure the ongoing competency of the team. You will provide technical input into design studies within an engineering discipline including safe working design, maintainability and whole life cost. You will also undertake the role of incident controller during planned and emergency situations and participate in a 24/7 standby rota and emergency response as a duty engineer. What we are looking for The successful candidate will have a strong engineering knowledge in the Electrical and Instrumentation discipline and because we work in hazardous areas, knowledge of health and safety is key. It would be desirable for you to have an in date CompEx (1-4) certificate, if not, it is something we could consider putting you through. You will have proven experience with Project Management and Financial Management and be a passionate believer in personal and process safety. While you will predominantly be based at single site, regular travel around the area will be required so you will need to hold a UK full valid car driving licence.
