MACMILLAN and MINDWISE: SOCIAL WORK PRACTITIONER - CANCER & MENTAL HEALTH Location Base: Blended home and office-based working; based at MindWise’s Head Office with travel throughout NI and occasionally ROI and UK. Hours: 35 Hours per week. Salary Range: £35,392 to £42,618 (Macmillan Band 6- AFC Salary Scale) Starting Salary: £33,035.33 Duration: Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2027 Closing date: 12noon, Tuesday 18th March 2025 All our roles make a positive impact on the lives of others, the purpose of this role is to: As a Macmillan funded Professional, employed by MindWise, the post holder will be part of the newly formed team to develop and implement the Cancer and Mental Health Psychosocial Service in N Ireland. This service is part of Macmillan’s Psychological care programme of work across the UK. The post holder will work closely with GP practice and Health and Social Care Trusts, developing partnerships across HSC cancer and mental health services, voluntary sector charities, fora for people with lived experience of cancer and mental health issues, and carer organisations. The post holder will also assist and support the development of a scoping exercise across specific GP practice areas of the volume of people living with cancer and mental health issues. They will be part of the Psychosocial Team who will provide consultation, advice, and guidance, alongside delivering clinical interventions to families, and carers, who are living with cancer and mental health issues, who require specialist intensive support. The postholder will also be responsible for assisting and supporting regional training for staff, and support programmes for families. This new service will also be evaluated, and the post holder will assist and support the independent evaluation company with data collection and analysis. What we ask for from you: A university degree in Social Work OR A professional qualification in Social Work Be fully registered with, or eligible to register with, NISCC as a Social Worker. 2 years’ post qualifying experience of which 1 year will be working in mental health services, or cancer services, or children’s services. Demonstrate an understanding of The Family Model (Author, Dr Adrian Falkov 2012) in practice. Demonstrate ability to prioritise own workload, problem solve and use initiative. Demonstrate ability to assess needs, plan & review care and manage risk to promote person centred outcomes. Demonstrate experience of managing stakeholder relationships, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for clients. Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the issues affecting those with cancer and mental health issues. Demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation as it affects individuals and family members. Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
