The role of the Telephonist at Wirral University Teaching Hospital is to work as part of a team under the supervision of the Telecommunications Supervisor, operating a busy computerised switchboard.
To deal with internal and external calls, a variety of emergency calls and alarms and operating the internal bleep and external paging systems and to provide a reception service for enquiries.
The candidate must be reliable and motivated to join our busy Switchboard Team and flexible to work additional hours to cover annual leave and other absences as the service demands.
The candidate must be IT literate and have a good telephone manner.
Available shifts:
Monday - Tuesday & Thursday - Friday 0800 - 2200
Main duties of the job
* To operate a computerised telephone system.
* To receive, connect and provide appropriate information to callers ranging from the public to all levels of hospital staff.
* Be fully conversant with switchboard emergency procedures for all relevant Trusts.
* Making bleep and radio paging calls.
* To attend all Trust mandatory and essential training.
* To comply with Trust policies and Telecommunications procedures and practices.
* To work without direct supervision as and when required.
