Technical Leader – Building Services (MEP)

What You’ll Be Doing
As a senior member of the Technical Management team, you’ll lead from the front in the planning and delivery of robust technical solutions. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the technical strategy and overseeing technical deliverables across multiple MEP projects (valued £5M-£50M).
* Managing design risk, co-ordination, compliance, and technical quality from pre-construction through delivery.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders – including bid, commercial and operations teams, clients, consultants, and manufacturers.
* Ensuring all works align with regulatory requirements including CDM, Building Safety Act, and relevant technical standards.
* Supporting the transition to digital engineering and contributing to Net Zero and sustainability objectives.
* Providing leadership and mentorship to technical teams and consultants.
What We’re Looking For
We want someone with a passion for complex design, a collaborative mindset, and a drive to make a difference through innovation and accountability.
Qualifications:
* BEng/MEng or MSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related Building Services discipline).
* Chartered or Incorporated status (or working towards) with CIBSE, IET, IMechE, or similar.
Experience:
* At least 10 years in building services engineering, with experience in sectors like healthcare, commercial, leisure, or MOD/MOJ.
* Proven ability to lead technical elements of MEP projects valued at £5M-£50M.
Key Skills:
* Deep knowledge of RIBA and BSRIA design frameworks.
* Strong understanding of technical risk management, value engineering, compliance, and digital engineering platforms (Revit, Navisworks, Asite, etc.).
* Commercial awareness, with experience aligning technical scope with contract requirements.
