Hours: 8:30am - 5:30pm two days per week and 8:00am to 5:00pm on three days per week, days to be agreed with the Director of Music.
Salary: Salary: £18,982.48 per annum pro-rata inclusive of holiday pay (£25,168 FTE). Please note this salary will be reviewed in line with the National Minimum Wage requirements from April 2025.
Contract: One Year Fixed Term Contract, Term Time Only. Commencing September 2025.
St George’s requires a Graduate Music Assistant for a one year post commencing September 2025. This role is ideal for passionate musicians with strong organisational skills, particularly those considering a career in music or music education. The successful candidate will support the daily operations of the Music Department, providing musical, administrative, and logistical assistance while gaining valuable experience with students. Candidates ideally will have an honours degree and knowledge of GCSE Music courses. Experience running concerts and major events as well as interest in chamber music and/or composition would be advantageous.
The College enjoys a fine reputation for the excellence and variety of its music. The Music Department comprises of the Director of Music and one further member of teaching staff, nineteen visiting teachers (self-employed) and a Music Department Coordinator.
The Department houses a Recital Room, seating up to 110, with a permanent recording facility, three further small study/teaching rooms, eight practice rooms, and a storeroom for pupils to store their instruments, in addition to departmental instrument storage. Large scale choral and orchestral concerts take place in the College Chapel (seating 800) which houses a three manual organ by Hugh Banton (installed in 1999 and refurbished in 2022) and a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano.
There is potential for on-site accommodation for the successful candidate, subject to availability.
