The purpose of this role is to assist the Head of Supportive Care & the Bereavement, Listening & Talking Therapies Manager to develop and expand the strategic role of Children's Support Services within the organisation.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintain a clinical caseload of clients with complex needs delivering individual and group work.
2. Provide a therapy layered approach to the service which includes advice and support to schools and education settings, support to clients (including parents), patients, children, and families with complex needs across Rennie Grove and Peace's geographical area.
3. Lead role to set up CYP peer bereavement support and parent support groups where appropriate with a trained team of volunteers, and be flexible in approach of offering a range of weekend and after-school workshops.
4. Develop a clear pathway of support for short-term individual support with clear criteria for ongoing support.
5. Liaise as appropriate with other professionals involved with the care of the child/young person.
6. Provide pre and post bereavement support for children and siblings referred to the Supportive Care service.
7. Provide support and training in schools when required.

Job responsibilities
1. Support Head of Supportive Care and Bereavement, Listening and Talking Therapies Manager by developing the children's and young people's therapy service.
2. Lead, manage, supervise and support the Creative Therapy Practitioner, delegating appropriately.
3. Be a member of the Outpatients, IPU, and clinical meetings/MDT, contributing to the planning of individualised patient care (or ensure representation).
4. Contribute to individual patient care planning by sharing advanced knowledge and skills with the wider team.
5. Be aware of current evidence-based practice regarding palliative, and pre-& post-bereavement practice/research; and adult and children's safeguarding policies.
6. Ensure this is translated into own adherence to a professional body of good working practice.
7. Lead and manage a team of volunteer children and young people counsellors/therapists.
8. Be part of the Safeguarding patient safety group.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registration with appropriate professional body (BACP, UKCP, NPCS, HCPC, BPS).
* Formal counselling/psychotherapy qualifications at degree/diploma level, and extensive experience of working with children, young people, and families in health or educational settings.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of counselling/Therapy.
* Experience of counselling children and family groups.
* Proven experience of working effectively in a team.
* Proven experience of working with bereaved families.
* A good understanding of technology with a working knowledge of Microsoft 365 packages (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams).
