Job Title - Research Nurse Reports to theResearch Manager Responsible to thePartners directly in clinical matters and the Practice Manager in administrative matters. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To participate in day-to-day conduct of research studies and recruit study participants, ensuring patient confidentiality in all matters. Responsibilities and duties Develop in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the research studies taking place at Eynsham Medical Group and other sites that may be working collaboratively with the practice. Be confident in explaining these studies to patients, answering their questions and obtaining informed consent according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice. Screen, recruit and follow-up study participants according to the study protocol and all local and national approvals. Provide information and support to patients, family and friends of study participants. Complete Consent Forms and Case Report Forms accurately and in a timely manner. Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Codes of Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and Good Clinical Practice at all times. Adhere to all relevant local policies and standard operating procedures for research studies taking place at Eynsham Medical Group and other sites that may be working collaboratively with the practice. Act as an autonomous practitioner, taking responsibility for clinical decisions where you are competent to do so. Support team in provision of laboratory systems and processes including sample kit delivery/collection and processing, use of centrifuge and dry ice transportation. Investigate and act on untoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or administration errors as detailed in local protocols or procedures Be prepared to adapt working patterns and recruitment strategies according to study-specific requirements. Undertake application, planning and review activities with the research team within Eynsham Medical Group and other sites that may be working collaboratively with the practice. Attend monthly research update meetings whenever possible. Education and training of Students and staff Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and induction of all members of practice staff as appropriate. Liaison Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with research, patient care and all other disciplines within the practice. Professional development Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary. Regular reading of relevant articles and journals.
