We have a full time Children's Wellbeing Practitioner position available in our Getting Help team in Durham based at North End House.

Our Children's Wellbeing Practitioner's deliver a range of brief low intensity, evidenced based psychological therapies.
The post holder will work with children and young people (0-18years) with the principal objectives of providing assessment and intervention to children and young people who have mental health needs.
Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and liaising closely with other agencies you will assess, plan and implement care for children with mental health needs.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the Getting Help team providing assessment and CBT based low intensity interventions to individuals and groups.
The post holder will work with young people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Job responsibilities

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the e screening, assessment and interventions for young people presenting with common mental health problems with a goal of self-management and recovery. Undertake patient-centred interviews which identify areas where the young person and their parents/carers wish to see change and/or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, organising assessment, signposting to appropriate services and facilitating referral to specialist services where required.
Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This will include group work; guided self-help, evidence based parent led interventions. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.
Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.
Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and stepdown arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Assess and integrate issues surrounding education into the overall therapy process.
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Be aware of, and keep up-to-date with advances in the treatment for common mental health problems.
Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
Attend relevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed withManager/Clinical lead.
Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. Maintain confidentiality of information at all times in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
Be conversant and comply with the Trusts Health and Safety Policy and report as necessary any untoward incident or hazardous event utilising the trusts InPhase System.

4. Successfully completed British Psychological Society (BPS) Accredited or Higher Education England (HEE) Approved academic course of study in line with the CYP IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and will be qualified as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP).
5. Professional registration as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) with an appropriate regulatory body (. British Psychological Society (BPS) or British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP))
