Job Overview:
Teachers are key roles in BSC’s vision of delivering outstanding and transformational learning experiences both in and outside the classroom. This role works closely with the teaching team, the College Manager, as well as the college’s Student Experience team to ensure students’ progress through their chosen course of study and receive the guidance and feedback they need to succeed. The duties of the role are outlined below, with further specification in the teacher handbook.
Duties
Inside the classroom
* Teach a wide range of courses, clubs and workshops to students of all ages and levels in accordance with the set curricula and syllabi.
* Ensure students are aware of course and lesson learning outcomes by planning collaboratively.
* Teach high-quality lessons that are in line with the teacher handbook and accreditation criteria.
* Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessment and adapt materials accordingly.
* Ensure all students receive the designated number of tutorials.
* Play an active role in BSC’s observation programme.
* Begin and end classes promptly.
* Monitor student attendance and communicate to relevant parties.
* Provide cover for absent teachers as required.
Outside the classroom
* Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with the set curricula and syllabi.
* Gather resources and produce new materials as required.
* Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard.
* Leave sufficient detail for cover teachers in the event of being unable to teach.
* Set, mark and correct homework providing appropriate feedback.
* Assist in placement testing and level assessment as directed.
* Attend student graduation ceremonies and invigilate exams as required.
Continuous Professional Development
* Actively participate in arrangements for future training and professional development.
* Review teaching methods and work programmes through regular appraisals.
* Participate in BSC’s observation programme for both developmental and quality control purposes.
* Attend all team meetings and CPD sessions as required.
Communication and Collaboration
* Cooperate with management and other teachers regarding course preparation and material creation.
* Share and receive ideas for best practice across the group.
* Respond to student feedback in a professional and timely manner.
Safeguarding and Compliance
* Oversee the general welfare of all students in your classes.
* Manage student behaviour and apply appropriate measures in cases of misbehaviour.
Education & Experience Required:
* Cambridge CELTA/DELTA or industry equivalent.
* Degree or alternative relevant experience.
* Experience in EFL teaching in the UK or abroad.
