Technical Sales Engineer

A world leading manufacturer of rotating equipment and mechanical components for applications throughout numerous industrial sectors including Chemical, Oil & Gas, Food and Beverage, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Process, Defence, Power, Wastewater, and Pharmaceutical. My client has been established for many years and is a global leader in rotating equipment with a multimillion turnover operating across the World. They manufacture products, systems, and solutions that enhance pump efficiency and reliability and significantly reduce maintenance downtime and cost.
Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the UK Sales Manager, the successful candidate will take responsibility for business activities throughout the Northwest of England and North Wales region. You will manage this area taking responsibility for Account Management and new client acquisition. This will involve 70% strategic key account management of existing clients and 30% new business activity. There is a diverse client base in this region; you will be selling and working within a multitude of industrial, process, and manufacturing environments. This is technical solution selling, and you will need to have a mechanical engineering aptitude, but also be an articulate and dynamic salesperson.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage existing accounts and acquire new clients.
2. Conduct regular customer visits throughout the sales region.
3. Report all sales and quotation activity on a monthly basis.
4. Collaborate with internal sales engineers for technical support.
The Candidate:
* External sales experience from an associated sector (e.g., mechanical seals, rotating equipment, pumps, valves).
* Mechanical Engineering Background.
* Full knowledge of rotating equipment and mechanical seals is highly beneficial.
* Understanding of rotating equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, seals).
* Strong strategic thinker with exceptional relationship management skills.
* Excellent communication skills to engage with various levels.
* Proven track record in business-to-business sales.
* Dynamic “can do” attitude, and enthusiasm for sales.
* Engineering qualification is advantageous but not essential.
* Mechanical engineering apprenticeship is desirable.
* Extensive product training will be provided.
* Ability to identify upselling/cross-selling opportunities.
