Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs) Location: Coventry, West Midlands Weekly Salary: £425 to £450 Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only (Temporary with the opportunity to go perm) Teaching personnel are seeking Teaching Assistants for a specialist school in Coventry. The school cater for individuals aged 4-19 and are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for children and young people with a range of needs, including: Social, Communication, and Interaction difficulties, including Autism Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs Physical difficulties Sensory impairments Complex medical needs As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering tailored educational programs to our diverse student body. Your role will involve working closely with pupils to facilitate their learning, promote independence, and ensure their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they can access learning activities. Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans. Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging engagement and participation in classroom activities. Support teachers in preparing and maintaining the learning environment, including preparing resources and displays of pupils' work. Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment processes. Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policies. Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupils' development and well-being. Qualifications and Experience: Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning, such as a Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable. Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
