Senior Social Worker
Dumfries
£25,405.50 - £27,367.50
This is a time of significant change for the Social Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway. There are real opportunities to contribute to service delivery and development.
Within the Professional Advisor Team, you will be the Line Manager of 3 Social Work Assessment and Support Co-Ordinators, supported by a Team Manager and Social Work Manager, working closely with our colleagues in ASP/MASH, Home Teams, Complex Care and Mental Health Social Work and the wider Health and Social Care Partnerships. You will be a qualified Social Worker with extended practice experience. Ideally you will have experience of frontline management. You will have a recognised post qualifying award or be able to evidence you are working towards one.
You will be committed to the development of the service and to producing the best possible outcomes for our service users in partnership with our partners as well as managing our Appropriate Adult Service. You will have an excellent knowledge of Adult Services legislation and an understanding of the main strategic and policy developments as well as council policies and procedures across Adult Services. In addition to this it is essential you have excellent communication skills, an understanding of business systems as well as competence in the use of computers.
You will also have good organisational and administrative skills, be able to build and sustain professional relationships across all of our partner agencies and be able to work productively and effectively in a team context. Finally you will also have a clear understanding of the impact of disability on our service users and their carer’s and also be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of advocacy services.
You will be able to demonstrate high levels of self-motivation and initiative allied to strong professional integrity and a commitment to working as a member of the management team. You will need to think creatively and innovatively and be flexible in your approach and be accountable for your own work and that of your team.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
