This term time only role is for 30 hours per week Monday-Friday (8.45am to 3.15pm with 30 minutes lunch break daily).
St Clare's Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant. Working as part of a small team, you will need to be calm, kind, flexible and dedicated. A genuine love of working with children is essential.
The successful applicant will:
* Have experience in supporting pupils with needs such as Learning Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Physical & Medical Needs.
* Have a good understanding of the Early Years and Primary curriculum.
* Be enthusiastic, confident and able to show initiative.
* Be compassionate and patient.
* Be able to work in partnership with SENCO, CT & external agencies.
* Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, and interact with them according to individual needs.
* Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
* Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
* Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers.
* Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
* Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
* Hold at least an A - C pass in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
The successful applicant would be expected to:
* Assist with the development and implementation of One Plans/EHCPs.
* Monitor and record pupil responses and learning.
* Supervise the pupil for limited and specific periods including break times.
* Support the students with their intimate care.
* Assist with escorting the pupil on educational visits.
* Use initiative and contribute to creating a stimulating and purposeful learning environment.
* Work in partnership with other teaching assistants.
* Encourage independence and promote self-confidence.
* Support the class teacher where necessary in planning differentiated work for the pupil.
* Create simple resources to support the pupil's work, as appropriate.
* Attend INSET days and training as identified by the Headteacher.
