Our public sector client is looking for an Insurance & Claims Officer to join them on a temporary basis.\n\nLocation – LE1\n\nPay Rate - £15.85ph\n\nRole is office based. Based at City Hall 5 days per week. 08:30 to 17:00 Mon to Thurs and 08:30 to 16:30 Fri with one hour for lunch.\n\nThis is for the inhouse claims handling team for the Council.
Would ideally like a minimum of 2-3 years recent experience.\n\nWe are looking more for a candidate who has liability and personal injury experience in relation to negligence policies such as public liability, employers liability or motor.\n\nPurpose of the role:\n\nTo investigate and recommend action on insurance claims brought against the council which are disputed or possibly fraudulent.\n\nMain Duties:\n\nProgresses and records information on an allocated case load of insurance claims against the council including investigating any potential cases of fraud.\n\nDetermines liability by reviewing & investigating cases, evidence provided, etc.\n\nWorks with council department staff on cases affecting them.\n\nMeets, interviews and negotiates with claimants, their legal and other representatives.\n\nRecommends and prepares cases to be challenged in court, including injury compensation.\n\nInstructs Loss Adjusters where necessary.\n\nIdentifies and proposes actions to reduce incidents or procedural changes that will make the team more effective.\n\nArranges site meetings to determine circumstances surrounding specific incidents\n\nOther miscellaneous tasks associated with the role.\n\nResponsibilities & Objectives:\n\nTo ensure that insurance claims against the council are properly prepared, costs justified, and pursued with insurers.\n\nTo repudiate any claims, from members of the public which have no legal liability.\n\nTo ensure that all appropriate details of incidents are entered into the system accurately, in a timely manner and any reports issued are in accordance with the requirements of the DPA\n\nTo ensure all/difficult claimants are handled professionally;\n\nTo keep up to date with current legislation, guidelines and best practice that applies to the role.\n\nMust follow, implement and promote the council's policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery.\n\nAble to deal with people professionally at all levels and from a variety of backgrounds.\n\nAble to recognise and deal with discrimination in its many forms and willing to actively put the council’s equality policies into practice.\n\nExperience:\n\nWorking experience of dealing with claims for an insurance company or large organisation.\n\nExperience of using office based ICT applications for e-mail, internet access, word processing, spread sheet analysis and database updating.\n\nProgressing towards and willing to complete ACII qualification or equivalent knowledge & experience\n\nAn understanding of common law negligence\n\nAn understanding of the management of risk
