To work alongside the Capacity Co-ordinator to ensure clinical capacity demands of the service are met including Theatre and OPD.
To ensure that all targets are met:
1. Cancer Waits
2. RTT
3. SLA’s
To deputise in the absence of the Capacity Co-ordinator to ensure continuity of service.
To work as a key member of the Directorate to provide operational support.
To work on their own initiative and manage own workload to ensure that the priorities of the service are met.
Ensure Consultant & Registrar clinics are set up as per Activity Rota, and clinics provided reflect the demand.
Escalate any discrepancies or deficiencies to the Capacity Co-ordinator.
Provide support to the Capacity Co-Ordinator, in the validation of RTT pathways.
Provide support by allocating appointments for patients where it is identified that there is insufficient capacity to accommodate within the clinically determined timeframe, i.e., Fast Track, clinically urgent, RTT and ward discharge patients. Ensuring tracking mechanisms are in place to ensure such appointments are monitored on a daily basis to avoid patients being 'lost' or delayed to follow up.
Escalate underutilised clinics, appointment slots, short notice requests and/or issues to Capacity Co-ordinator.
Use own initiative to plan time effectively and prioritise incoming work on a daily basis, including responding appropriately and communicating clearly in relation to urgent/important and unpredictable issues.
To liaise with other members of the Directorate teams – appointments, waiting lists etc., to ensure capacity is fully utilised appropriately.
To update and maintain accurate information to facilitate timely patient management.
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form with all levels of staff both within the Trust and outside agencies.
Be able to deal with difficult situations both face to face and over the telephone, ensuring all Confidentiality guidelines are met.
Good computer skills to operate and update several IT software packages used by the Trust and Patient Access.
To be flexible in order to facilitate the demands of the service and changes within the service.
To assist the Capacity Co-ordinator to ensure systems, policies and audit processes are in place to monitor and evaluate quality standards relative to the service.
The post holder must at all times carry out his/her responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Policies, for example, Equal Opportunities Policy, Confidentiality & Health and Safety.
The post holder to ensure they are fully compliant with all relevant mandatory training requirements.
