PURPOSE
As a Health Care Assistant, you will offer support, care and guidance to patients on their journeys at TDP. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of care to satisfy each patient's individual needs. You will play a crucial part in the day-to-day running of the Clinic, ensuring that patients are seen safely and swiftly, delivering an efficient and professional first-class patient experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Responsibilities
* Support treatments and chaperone patients in consultations at the Clinic
* Setting up a sterile field, supporting with excisions and biopsies
* Efficiently maintaining, monitoring and controlling stock and equipment, reporting any deficits to the Lead Nurse
* Prepare clinical area and Department prior to the start of Clinics
* Supporting patients with aftercare information and instructions as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
* Application of treatments, dressings, and post-operative wound care
* Assist and chaperone patients whilst clinical examinations/procedures are being undertaken
Patient Journey
* Meet and greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
* Ensure patient satisfaction at all times
* Assist in creating a supportive and caring environment
* Promoting high standards of clinical care to all of our patients across the board
* Ensure the patient journey is frictionless and of the highest standard
Health and Safety
* Dispose of clinical waste in line with Health and Safety guidelines
* Prepare specific equipment required within the Department prior to clinical procedures
* Responsible for clinical incident reporting as per Company policies
Infection Prevention and Control
* Ensure that you are familiar with and adhere to the TDP Infection Prevention and Control Policy and Procedures
* Ensure that your work methods are compliant with TDP agreed policies and procedures
* Ensure that your work does not endanger yourself or others
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of infection prevention and control, policies, practices and procedures through attendance at annual mandatory updates and ongoing continuing professional development
* Challenge poor infection prevention and control practices of others and report any breaches, using appropriate Trust mechanisms (e.g. incident reporting policy)
Confidential Matters
* Ensure that you are familiar with and adhere to TDP policy and procedures on Information Governance. This includes disclosure of information, records management and management of confidential information
* Always maintain patient confidentiality
* Assemble nursing documentation, including all stationery requirements for clinical sessions
* Check clinic lists, reporting any discrepancies to the ‘appointed person in charge’
* Ensure accurate record keeping as per Clinic Processes
* Answer telephone calls courteously, relay messages accurately and promptly, and answer general enquiries by visitors
* Verbal handover of patient information to the Lead Nurse
Professional Standards and Performance Review
* Participate in statutory and mandatory training as appropriate for the post
* Maintain consistently high, personal and professional standards and act in accordance with the relevant professional code of conduct
* Take responsibility for the maintenance and improvement of personal and professional competence and to encourage that of colleagues and subordinates
* Participate in appraisal processes including identifying performance standards for the post, personal objective setting, and the creation of a personal development plan in line with outline for the post
* Ensure that you are familiar with and adhere to Safeguarding procedures and guidelines and undertake any additional training in relation to safeguarding relevant to your role
* Ensure that you are familiar with the TDP Equality and Diversity policies. This includes respecting the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues and behaving in a manner which is welcoming to and of the individual, is non-judgmental and respects their circumstances, feelings priorities and rights

Experience
* Experience in a (private) healthcare setting
* Previous Health Care Assistant experience in outpatients
* Brief understanding of medical terminology
* Knowledge of patient database systems
* Competent with Microsoft Office software
* Assisted consultants with minor surgical procedures
* Understanding of clinical and pricing documentation
