The Role
As our Senior Solicitor, you will be crucial to our continued success by playing a key role in shaping and growing the legal function within the business. You will provide expert legal advice across various areas, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting the strategic direction of the company. Additionally, you will be responsible for establishing and growing our conveyancing services function, enhancing our brand’s reputation and impact in this area.
The Person
To thrive in this role, you should:
Be a qualified Solicitor with strong experience in property law, conveyancing, and broader commercial matters including commercial contracts, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Have proven ability to provide strategic legal advice in a commercial environment.
Have experience in developing legal functions within a business, ideally including conveyancing.
Have the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
Be a proactive and business-focused mindset, with a passion for driving growth and innovation.
Have experience within the housebuilding sector or green services industry (e.g. grounds maintenance, arboriculture, landscaping, estate services) is desirable.
Demonstrate strong ethical standards and a commitment to doing the right thing.
What your day will look like:
Providing legal counsel and support across the business, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
Advising on a wide range of legal matters, including property transactions, contracts, corporate governance, and risk management.
Leading and developing the conveyancing function within the business, ensuring efficient processes and a strong market presence.
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and legal documents.
Supporting business decisions by identifying potential legal risks and providing commercially focused solutions.
Engaging with all aspects of conveyancing, from initial instruction to registrations.
Handle registered and unregistered titles, as well as deal with land registry requisitions.
Checking contract papers and searches in addition to raising enquiries.
Developing and maintaining good relationships and keeping clients fully informed throughout the process in a professional and friendly manner.
Develop, motivate, and lead our conveyancing team.
Key Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of property law, land law and conveyancing processes.
Proven ability to manage caseloads involving: Leaseholds and Freeholds; Sales and Purchases; Transfers of Equity; Shared Ownership; New Builds.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience in guiding, mentoring, and developing teams.
Ability to prioritise workload effectively and manage deadlines.
A conveyancing qualification (desirable but not essential).
Commitment to delivering exceptional client care and maintaining high professional standards.
