The Role:
Sail Biomedicines is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I/II to join our mission of developing novel programmable delivery technology. This is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a team dedicated to creating a transformative delivery platform for precision targeting of therapeutics. Your contributions will play a crucial role in testing and further training advanced AI/ML models. This position offers the chance to excel in your field of expertise while also collaborating with multiple teams across the company. This lab-based onsite position requires the majority of time to be dedicated to hands-on lab work, focusing on experimental tasks and collaboration within the team to drive project success.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and optimize novel formulations for nucleic acid (mRNA, siRNA, DNA, etc.) delivery, while providing critical input on our overall formulation strategy.
2. Develop and validate analytical methods for cargo and formulations.
3. Execute experiments that will serve as the basis for the company’s ongoing platform and intellectual property development.
4. Develop novel methods to help advance our understanding of nanoparticle mechanism of action, evaluating functionality, targeting efficiency and potency of novel delivery modalities.
5. Work closely with cross-functional teams across Sail, collaborators, and CROs to progress candidates from discovery through IND-enabling studies.
6. Manage multiple experiments, projects, and interactions with supporting functions simultaneously.
7. Interpret, troubleshoot, and report complex data.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline, with a demonstrated strong background in developing diverse formulations with in vitro/in vivo applications.
2. Execution-focused, team-oriented, and highly motivated, with strong work ethic.
3. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently, and collaborate across disciplines.
4. Strong verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, innovative environment.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with in vivo delivery of nucleic acids.
2. Strong disposition for physicochemical and biophysical analytics, including assay development.
3. Proficiency in analytical techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), TGA, SANS, SAXS, FTIR, HPLC, DSC, Mass spectrometry, DLS, zeta potential, UV-Vis, and fluorescence spectrophotometry, etc.
