With significant digital channel management, technical and leadership experience you will deliver continuous digital communications operations for the department, setting the standard for digital channel management across Defence communications. The core responsibilities include:
• Leading online publishing for the department, driving day-to-day planning and delivery across core MoD channels (social media and gov.uk), ensuring that digital officers have the tools, information and direction needed to deliver impactful online products at pace.
• Play a leading role in digital forward planning and channel strategy development, ensuring all communicators embed audience-focused digital handling to announcements, events and visits that are optimised to drive reach and public engagement.
• Establishing robust social listening within the digital team, ensuring the department is effectively responding to online news.
• Oversight of the gov.uk publishing team, ensuring our online offering remains integrated with the wider communication outputs, providing support where required.
• Partnering with digital teams across defence and government, as well as external partners, to maximise the reach and impact of our communications.
• Building resilience within the digital channels team, mitigating against online reputational risks to the department and ensuring our systems are robust and adaptive to the challenges of an ever-changing digital landscape.
• Leadership and digital coordination during times of crisis or significant national campaigns, deputising for the Head of Digital Communications where required.
• Working closely and collaboratively with campaign, content creation, strategy and evaluation teams to ensure our channels are optimised to deliver core departmental communications objectives, proactively driving the digital handling of major announcements.
• Line Management of three SIO communicators, responsible respectively for social media management, online (gov.uk) management, and communications technology management – providing hands-on support to these functions where required.
