RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MBS DATA MANAGEMENT LEAD MBS Data Management Seek to extend the Data Management Service and proactively promote it benefits and use Champion data management best practices and promote a culture of data stewardship Engage with data users and consumers across MBS to understand their data needs to define and implement data management strategies and initiatives Create and implement data management best practices and guidelines to improve data processing and usage Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement data management technologies and solutions Oversee monitoring of data-related risks and compliance issues, ensuring data privacy and protection requirements are met Drive development of data management roadmaps, aligning with business objectives and priorities Oversee the capture and maintenance all required data elements and attributes to provide comprehensive view of data Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement data management technologies and solutions and oversee the implementation of new technologies Facilitate meetings and workshops across all levels including senior leaders, practitioners and external stakeholders to elicit information and agreement from audiences of varying backgrounds Ensure that MBS data services and its data, align with the requirements and objectives of MPS data strategy and deliver stakeholder needs Ensure that the underpinning capabilities (people, processes, technology and information) are in place to deliver digitally-enabled efficiency Monitor the service performance against SLA and timely address any performance issues. Drive the management of data throughout its lifecycle Review and update SLAs following changes to processes Promote data-driven decision making and supporting compliance with relevant regulations People Management & Culture Build relationships with Data Management team, including data stewards, owners, and custodians across business units to promote a culture of good data management practice Sets clear expectations and draws on own and others’ strengths to meet personal and team objectives Actively monitors team results against objectives and seeks feedback to continuously improve quality and performance Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and diversity across their teams, that supports and encourages overall team ethos and removes silos Foster a culture of high-performance, innovation and continuous improvement embracing MBS and MPS values Provide guidance, support and mentoring to their team, including career development, and ensuring ongoing succession for key positions Set up and manage a team on an ongoing basis, to perform data management practices e.g. control of data, collaboration platforms between business users and data management team Establish data management KPIs on change requests to monitor and report on the effectiveness of efforts Data Literacy & Training Drive the adoption of data management practices across the organisation Provide training frameworks to stakeholders across the organisation on data management principles and regulations Collaborate with business units to define data ownership and stewardship responsibilities Foster a data-driven culture by promoting data awareness, literacy, and self-service access to trusted data SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE MBS DATA MANAGEMENT LEAD 7 years of experience leading data management, data modelling, data dictionary/catalogue, data quality & master data management initiatives. 7 years of embedding and managing data management experience in enterprise-wide or Shared Services operations; Public Sector is desirable; prior experience with Policing organisations beneficial Experience with managing master data objects within Finance, Commercial and HR and their associated requirements within the data lifecycle, processes, changes, workflows and approvals, including legal, statutory and regulatory requirements Experience of developing detailed orientated teams with a commitment to maintaining high data accuracy and integrity Experience in developing and implementing large data and technology infrastructures with the proper practices and standards built around it Experience in data ownership, stewardship and custodianship to establish workflows, approvals and perform effective data management activities to ensure data quality Experience in driving delivery and complying with data management SLAs Experience of managing and coordinating organisation-wide change projects and initiatives Experience of managing a team of individuals providing clear direction, support and resolution Up to date knowledge of market leading best practice and technologies used for the delivery of public sector back office services Expert understanding of the principles and approaches to manage Reference Data, Master Data, Data Hierarchies, Transactional & Reporting Data Applied understanding of data management principles, techniques, and best practices such as a deep understanding of databases, data warehouses, data modelling, ETL tools, and other data management technologies Authoritative knowledge of management and operations of best-in-practice ERP platforms e.g. Oracle or equivalent.
