Our client, a large reputable social housing contractor, is seeking a full-time Health and Safety Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience: £47,000 – £50,000 per annum.
Job Summary
The Health & Safety Advisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all employees within the organisation. Working alongside the health and safety manager, the suitable applicant will be responsible for maintaining health and safety policies and procedures to comply with legal requirements and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety.
Duties
1. Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and training programmes to promote a safe working environment.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
3. Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.
4. Prepare detailed reports on health and safety performance, presenting findings to senior management.
5. Liaise with external regulatory bodies and ensure that the organisation meets all legal obligations regarding health and safety.
6. Monitor workplace conditions to ensure compliance with health standards, providing guidance on improvements where necessary.
7. Foster a culture of safety within the organisation by promoting awareness and encouraging employee participation in health and safety initiatives.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience in a health and safety advisor role or similar position.
2. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
3. Excellent skills in first aid, root cause analysis, and report writing.
4. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.
5. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
6. Relevant qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent) are desirable.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
