Job summary This is a 3 day/ week secondment post for 6 months and is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Speech and Language Therapist to work in a highly supportive team of enthusiastic speech and language therapists in the Exeter area delivering a community speech and language therapy service to children and young people within clinic and education settings. We provide a high level of support within the team including regular supervision, team meetings and CPD opportunities. The Communication and Interaction pathway consists of Speech and Language Therapists working across Devon and Torbay. The aim of the team is to ensure that specialist support is easily accessible within the community settings, providing both direct support to children, young people and families, and to the wider community teams. Everyone in the team is provided with regular supervision, opportunities for training and development Main duties of the job o To independently manage, with access to support from more senior colleagues and the team, a caseload of children and young people in the Exeter area with developmental disorders of speech, language and communication.o The provision of a speech and language therapy service of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental disorders of speech, language and communication.o To provide appropriate intervention and evaluate outcomes.o To provide advice to parents and carers, early years and school staff and other professionals on matters relating to the speech, language and communication needs of individual children and young people.o To set up and monitor programmes to be carried out by other key workers.o To write reports reflecting specialist knowledge.
