Interim Property Lawyer
12 months fixed term contract maternity leave cover
£34,617 (3 days)- £46,156 (4 days)
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Property Lawyer to cover a maternity leave on a fixed term contract basis at a University in the South East region.
The Legal Services Department is a dynamic and collaborative group of ten lawyers, a trainee solicitor, a paralegal, and an administrative assistant.
The University has an extensive property portfolio, including three campuses as well as agricultural, commercial, and residential property.
The successful candidate will provide legal advice on a wide range of matters relating to the University's estate, including:
* Disposals and acquisitions
* Landlord and tenant work
* Sales and purchases
* Easements and wayleaves
* Property development and other property matters
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or chartered legal executive with at least 4 years' PQE with robust experience of advising on a range of property law matters and negotiating property agreements.
It would also be desirable if the successful candidate could provide advice on related legal matters, including some elements of construction procurement and some general commercial matters. However, this isn't essential as the majority of the workload is property-based.
The role can offer remote working, and some ad hoc office attendance would be ideal for candidates who can travel, as it is beneficial to see the area in question when dealing with land transactions.
The successful post holder will also receive several benefits, including:
* Generous annual leave allowance, including additional shut down days for Christmas and Easter
* The opportunity to join a fantastic pension scheme (USS)
* Beautiful campus working environment, with access to sports facilities and numerous eateries and cafes
We would welcome applications from lawyers with experience of working within a commercial environment, whether in-house or in private practice, and encourage interested applicants to apply immediately to be considered for shortlisting.
Alternatively, should you require further information or wish to discuss your suitability before applying, please contact Kiran Purewal in our Manchester office for a confidential discussion.
