This position is being advertised to form a pipeline of candidates for future positions within Rolls-Royce Submarines based in our new office in Cardiff. Therefore, applicants should not expect feedback immediately. However, we will endeavour to review your CV in a timely manner.
Why Rolls-Royce?
Our Submarines business is currently expanding and opening a new Office based in Cardiff in which we are looking for Engineers across multiple engineering disciplines. As we continue to support the Royal Navy as the technical authority to the UK Ministry of Defence for naval reactor plants, we’re also growing our submarine and nuclear sector capabilities. As part of this, we are looking for a number of people with a strong background in Thermofluid Engineering.
As part of the Analytical Engineering Team, you will be mainly using thermo-hydraulic methods and tools to perform assessment and justification at an integrated power system performance or component level as applicable, in support of capability acquisition, new product introduction, and in-service product support. You will actively encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement both within and outside the wider team.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career. We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum, we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you’ll be doing:
1. As a Thermofluids Engineer, you'll solve complex engineering problems by applying thermofluid principles, ensuring optimal system performance;
2. Design and optimize cutting-edge products and processes in aerospace, automotive, energy, and more;
3. Enhance energy efficiency and thermal management, promoting sustainable solutions for global challenges;
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver breakthrough innovations, from concept to reality;
5. Continuously expand your expertise through research and analysis, shaping the future of thermofluid engineering.
Who we’re looking for:
At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles. And to be successful in this role, you will need to:
1. PhD, Masters or Bachelors degree in an Engineering or relevant Science or Mathematics degree subject with suitable experience;
2. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems;
3. Proactive, persistent, and customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative, and able to stand-alone;
4. Effective interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills essential for liaising with peers and supervision;
5. Experience in a Fluid Systems related discipline is desirable but not essential;
6. Normally holding membership of a relevant professional body or working towards Chartered status.
We’re an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
