Product Inspection Engineer

An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Product Inspection Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on developing high-performance, environmentally-conscious technology. This role is ideal for someone with strong precision measurement expertise looking to make a real impact in engineering innovation and quality assurance.
The Role
This position supports a wide range of engineering activities, from product validation to new development, through accurate and reliable measurement techniques. The successful candidate will work hands-on with advanced inspection technologies and contribute directly to product quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform dimensional and surface measurements using microscopes, hand gauges, contact, and optical systems in accordance with design specifications.
* Produce detailed inspection reports and clearly communicate technical findings to relevant teams.
* Support continuous improvement efforts, collaborating closely with engineering and validation colleagues to define inspection requirements.
* Engage with internal teams and external partners to improve inspection capabilities and explore new technologies.
* Conduct measurement trials and capability analyses.
* Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment.
* Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards, including IATF 16949.
* Contribute to departmental performance targets, including metrics, budget, and quality objectives.
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in an engineering discipline, with a minimum of 2 years' industry experience.
* Master’s degree in metrology or precision engineering is advantageous.
* Experience in precision engineering or a related sector.
* Knowledge of measurement best practices, dimensional metrology standards, and surface finish standards.
* Proficiency with manual/digital microscopes, contact and optical 3D metrology tools.
* Experience with programming inspection processes and automation.
* Hands-on experience with 3D metrology software and measurement principles.
* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T specifications.
* 3D CAD experience.
* Programming skills in Matlab, Python, or VBA.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive, self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn.
* Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Understanding of 5S methodology and workplace organisation.
