Job summary The primary role of the Practice Development Maternity Support Worker is to assist, support and develop MSW colleagues throughout Chelsea & Westminster Maternity Unit at Band 2 and 3 to work independently and in collaboration with the Practice Development Team and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to women centred care. The post holder will support Band 2 & 3 MSW employees to further develop their skills and explore pathways for progression where appropriate. Together with the Practice Development Midwives, they will be part of the mandatory training faculty, support MSW through Excellence in Care training and the completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, teaching new skills and offering underpinning knowledge for skills already achieved. This support will continue in the clinical areas enabling MSW'S to successfully achieve the required competencies and to sign them off as competent. Main duties of the job To enable the required leadership to Band 2&3 MSW's the post holder is expected to have achieved and be competent in a set of defined competencies; this includes Excellence in Care/Care Certificate and Band 3 Maternity Support Worker competencies.
